The Stench of Lust in the Air

Not to be so pessimistic or anything! :-P

So yes, it’s Valentine’s Day! The fated day for discontent singles, the predestined day for girls who have a boyfriend, and the procrastinated day for boys with a girlfriend. It has officially been 19 years of passing through another annual love-less day of love… but that’s not keeping me down! Oh no! This isn’t my cheap form of advertisement, but it is a way of being truthful about my emotions toward this mooshy-gooshy holiday.

Boys. They’re kind of foreign to me. Yet, I really look forward to the day when one really pursues me. This form of pursuit will not be nauseating though (I hope), because I have a record of getting… let’s say… freaked out. I’m the type who really likes to take the initiative on things. So when it comes to a task such as dating, I feel that I need to take the reigns to be comfortable. I have struggled to find the balance on this for some time now, and am not sure how God’s going to work this out over time. We’ll see!

Funny thing happened last night. Some guys in the Williams dorm came over to our hall and dropped off some lovely pre-valentines goodies :-) Upon drinking lots of water, I step out of my room and headed toward the restrooms to find about 10 strapping young gentlemen in Mexican wrestling face masks, bandanas, and monster masks delivering homemade cupcakes and Valentines notes!

Being a little emotional, I got a teary-eyed because I thought this was the greatest Valentine surprise from guys as a whole. All glory goes to their R.A., but I’m glad that the boys followed through on this lovely surprise! Thank you Williams boys!!!

V-Day isn’t too bad. It opens up opportunity to serve one another in a loving way. And guys, it’s an excuse to show affection to your fellow lovers and friends without coming across as an emotional pansy… which is not even close to the truth! Who knows how many more single V-Days there are to come… but for now, I’m going to “Be [my] own Valentine” as my Dove Dark Chocolate wrapper told me :-)
